In 1923 on February 18 on light there was first issue of the Uzbek satirical magazine "Mushtum". Outstanding Uzbek writer Abdullah Kadyri was the initiator and the founder of the magazine.
Since 1927 the magazine began creative cooperation with the Krokodil magazine.
During the Second World War, as well as many other editions release of the Mushtum magazine was temporarily suspended. Only since 1951 it again continued the activities. At this time round the magazine such well-known writers and poets, as Gafur Gulyam, Sabir Abdullah, Abdullah Kakhkhar, Uygun, Gayrati, Charkhi, Said Ahmad, Askad Mukhtar, Mirmukhsin, Akmal Pulat, Zakhidzhan Abidov, Hudayberdi Tukhtabayev gathered. Their invaluable works undoubtedly served development and prosperity of this edition.
A post war year in pages of the magazine bureaucracy and many other negatives of society was criticized. As these subjects are actual and today on pages of the magazine it is possible to see a number of materials in which tasks and life and society problems are brightly expressed.
During the Soviet power "Mushtum" closely cooperated with satirical magazines "Perets" (Ukraine), "Vozhyk" (Belarus). "Chayan" (the Tatar Republic), "Macaw" (Kazakhstan), "Henek" (Ufa).
Ghazi Yunus (1923-1924) was the first editor of the Mushtum magazine. After it the magazine was headed by such celebrities, as Kamil Alimov, Zeya Said, Gulyam Gafurov, Akmal Pulat, Mirmukhsin, Ibrahim Rahim, Maksud Kariyev, Zhura Sagdullayev, Nejmat Aminov, Ashurali Dzhurayev. And even in those days the magazine brought together round itself the most true and faithful readers.
In education of young artists-caricaturists "Mushtum" became some kind of big school. The first artist of the magazine was IshtvanTullya (1923-1928). After it its work was continued by Telman Mukhammedov, Alijan Halikov, Nariman Ibragimov, Emil Ruzibayev, Surat Salakhutdinov and many other. Today the main artist of the magazine is Husan Sadykov. He together with young and talented masters of art art tries to make this edition more interesting and various.
In the Soviet years "Mushtum" was the edition of typography of the Central committee of Uzbekistan. In days of independence this typography was renamed in publishing concern “Sharq”. Since 2001 the concern became Joint-stock company. Since 1991 today the founder of the magazine is PPSC "Sharq".
Since February, 2007 to the present the magazine is headed by TashmatovNasyrdzhanDosmatovich. Creative group - Aziz Salikhov, the editor of department: Said Mukimov, Murodali Haliyarov, Bakhtiyar Allamuradov, Maksud Akramov, Husan Sadykov (chief illustrator), Umida Toychibayev (designer) try to make the magazine even more honored, high-quality, unique. Feuilletons, critiques, satirical stories, comic verses, caricatures serve success and edition development.
Since February, 2007 to the present the magazine is headed by Tashmatov Nasyrdzhan Dosmatovich. Creative group - Said Mukimov, the editor of department: Murodali Haliyarov, Bakhtiyar Allamuradov, Husan Sadykov (chief illustrator), UmidaToychibayev (designer) try to make the magazine even more honored, high-quality, unique. Feuilletons, critiques, satirical stories, comic verses, caricatures serve success and edition development.
The last five years the magazine from circulation 1500 rose to 16.500. It doubtlessly a merit of the editor-in-chief which could rally collective and itself actively participating in all its affairs.
Periodicity of the magazine - once a month.Format 70х100. By 1/8 amount it is printed on offset paper. The magazine at number 0799 was registered in Uzbekistan National News Agency.
